Köln 75 - Premier & koncert
Thursday 22.05.25 07:00 PM

On May 22nd at the Toldi Cinema, you’re invited to a special evening: Budapest Film presents Cologne 75, a film that tells the story behind Keith Jarrett’s legendary Köln Concert—which went on to become one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time.

At the heart of the story is a teenager, Vera Brandes, who at just 16 years old organizes concerts in Cologne for some of the most important jazz musicians of the era. She is the one who—despite all difficulties and obstacles—manages to get Jarrett on stage that fateful night. A tired, doubtful artist, a poorly maintained piano, and a young girl who refuses to give up on her dreams.

Cologne 75 is an inspiring story about ambition, perseverance, and how the greatest miracles sometimes arise in the most unexpected circumstances.

After the screening, the Kosztolánszki–Oláh–Ajtai–Richter Quartet will take the stage, with a repertoire inspired by Jarrett’s legacy—expressed in their own voice, through improvisation:

  • Dominik Kosztolánszki – saxophone

  • Krisztián Oláh – piano

  • Péter Ajtai – double bass

  • Ambrus Richter – drums

The concert is accessible with a ticket purchased for the film premiere.
